Whilst there
are many factors to the delivery of an exceptional cleaning service, perhaps
the most crucial is the quality of the workforce. That is to say, the presence
of a consistent, retained, motivated and technically able team of cleaners
and supervisory staff.
Turners Cleaning and Support Services has always been committed to developing every member of the team through training. Not only does this improve technical capability and working standards, it also maximises motivation and job satisfaction, through recognition. In turn, the pride that the staff have in their work and the positive relationship they have with their employer, leads to Staff Retention.
Our commitment is embodied in our “Four Pillars” framework
of Training, Development, Communication and Evaluation.
Training is defined as improvement activity which is Task Specific, conducted to aid someone in their job. This activity begins, prior to employment commencement, with structured Induction Training covering the core skills associated with the job in hand. The programme is delivered in a hands-on and classroom format, the results of which are logged within the employee’s Training Record. Further training, in all aspects of cleaning relevant to the job, is completed within 21 days. Ongoing Training needs are assessed on a monthly basis.
Development is defined as improvement activity which is Person Specific, conducted to aid someone in their personal development and career. This might range from specialist BICS courses to computer training and is designed to meet the aspirations of the individual.
Communication maintained through many different forms and media, not only to disseminate policies etc, but also to instil a culture of teamwork and belonging.
Evaluation of all staff is achieved through regular informal reviews, team meetings and formal Appraisals. Further Evaluation, of company practices, is gained through the business objectives measuring processes.
